Misunderstood? (Skhothane)
Limited Edition print
Social commentary poster print on the South African phenomenon of "Izikhothane": A youth movement/trend born in the townships which entails the destruction of money and expensive material objects to gain respect or notoriety.
The print "Misunderstood?", comments on whether the bizarre trend is a rebellion against a society of opulent consumerism or a misguided youth cult. The print was initially an editorial illustration for a youth online magazine: "Young, Wasted & Black", launched on June 16 (South African Youth Day) 2013.
